My passion for baking began when I was a very young girl. My first business experience was owning two gift shops in the Topanga Mall located in Woodland Hills, CA, where I personally did all the buying and was a hands on entrepreneur for eight years! Later, I moved to Santa Barbara, CA where I owned and operated two Bed and Breakfast Inns.
It was there the stage was set, each and every day for a romantic tea time. Scones were truly a royal pleasure and a way to affectionately bring joy to others! Not only were they purely delightful, they were also a very special memory for those who enjoyed them.
After eight years of Innkeeping my husband and I moved South. It was there, in the quaint village of Sierra Madre, CA, where the deer have mountains to climb that “Kathleen Marie’s Pure Delights” first began!
In the village was a very special elite market called Howies. The cashiers and grocery baggers called the customers by first names! I was invited to display and sell my original scones, my labor of love, my very own recipes. It was truly a joyous experience. And this is where I learned the business of baking.
